ABOUT FAMILY HOUSE:

Family House San Francisco, founded in 1981, is a non-profit pediatric guest house for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. It’s a home away from home, providing a supportive community and caring environment for the entire family while their child is undergoing treatment–all free from financial concerns.

Since 1981, so much has changed for Family House. What started as ten rooms on Irving Street, run entirely by volunteers with an annual operating budget of under $200,000 has grown into a five-story, 80-bedroom facility in Mission Bay that can house more than 250 people per night. Now with more than 25 employees and an operating budget of over $5 million, Family House has been a haven for more than 60,000 families while their child is undergoing treatment for cancer or another life-threatening illness.

This year’s theme, All You Need is Love, is a phrase that’s integral to our mission. All event proceeds will fund direct services provided to our families, including temporary housing, meals and amenities for families with a child being treated for cancer or other life-threatening illnesses. All services are offered 100% free of charge for more than 4,000 kids and family members each year, thanks to the generous philanthropic support of individuals, corporations, and foundations like you.
